What’s in the Box

• HS4 Handheld Bow Scale (with aluminum body and release-aid handle shape)

• Pre-installed battery (with protective tab)

• Small flathead screwdriver (for battery compartment)

Step 1: Install the Battery

1. Locate the battery panel on the back of the scale.

2. Use the supplied screwdriver to remove the small screw and open the panel.

   • ⚠️ Place the screw somewhere safe — it’s very small.

3. Remove the battery and take out the clear plastic protector tab.

4. Reinsert the battery, sliding it under the small metal tab before snapping into place.

5. Close the battery panel and reinstall the screw.

6. Flip the scale over and press the power button to confirm the display turns on.

Step 2: Safety Precautions

⚠️ Always follow these safety rules when using the HS4 Bow Scale:

• Keep the bow pointed in a safe direction.

• Always have an arrow nocked when drawing the bow — in case of D-loop break or mishap, this prevents a dangerous dry fire.

• Do not pull past your bow’s maximum draw weight.

• Ensure the D-loop is secure before attaching the scale.

Step 3: Using the Scale

1. Turn the scale on and confirm the display reads 0.0.

2. Clip the scale’s hook securely into your D-loop.

3. Raise the bow into shooting position.

4. Draw the bow back smoothly to full draw.

   • Pause briefly at full draw to record holding weight.

5. Let the bow down slowly.

6. Check the digital readout for:

   • Peak Weight (maximum draw weight reached)

   • Holding Weight (weight at full draw)

   • Let-off % (automatically calculated)

Step 4: Avoiding False Readings

The HS4 has a memory function that records peak weight. Incorrect readings can occur if pressure is applied before the draw.

• ❌ Don’t pull down on the scale before lifting the bow.

• ✅ Instead, lift the bow first, then apply pressure by drawing smoothly.

• If you see an unusually low number (e.g., 3–7 lbs), it’s likely due to pre-loading the scale. Simply reset and try again.

Step 5: Scale Functions

• Unit Button: Press to cycle through:

  1. Pounds (lbs)

  2. Kilograms (kg)

  3. Luggage Mode (for weighing gear up to ~50 lbs)

💡 Tip: If the display isn’t showing the information you want, continue pressing the Unit button until it cycles to the desired mode.

Troubleshooting

• No power? → Check battery tab was removed and battery is seated under the retaining clip.

• Weird low readings? → Ensure you’re not pressing on the scale before drawing.

• Numbers flickering? → Replace the battery.

WARNING
ALWAYS draw your bow in a “SAFE DIRECTION” when using the HS4
It’s recommended to nock an arrow before using the scale in case of a dry fire.
The HS4 can read measurements up to 110 lbs. DO NOT exceed the 110 lb max weight limit. Exceeding this weight limit could cause damage or injury to you or your equipment.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment while operating this product. For example, safety glasses/gloves

CALIBRATING THE HS4
Required: 45 lb calibration weight. Note: The scale is calibrated new, but over time might need to be recalibrated.
#1 Open the battery compartment by removing the small phillips head screw, and then remove the battery.
#2 Hold both the ON/OFF and the UNIT buttons while reinstalling the battery simultaneously.
#3 At this point, a random assortment of numbers should move up/down on the LCD screen, which shows it’s in calibration mode.
#4 Click the ON/OFF button once, and “CAL” will flash twice, and then 45.0 lb will repeatedly flash on the screen.
#5 At this point in the process you are ready to add the 45 lb weight to the scale.
#6 Hold the 45 lb weight with the scale until the LCD screen says “PASS.” Once it shows “PASS,” the scale has been recalibrated.

If, for some reason, the scale never says “PASS.” Start over from step one. Ensure the 45 lb weight is put onto the scale softly and that it doesn’t swing back and forth. If the weight moves back and forth, it will not calibrate as it’s not allowing it to get an accurate reading of the 45 lb weight.

You can perform this process using a single 45 lb weight, mixing dumbells until you get 45 lbs, or even taking a bucket of sand/water that is 45 lbs.
