Step-by-Step Guide

1. Squaring Arrows

• Insert the shaft into the squaring device.

• Use the diamond file wheel to square both ends of the shaft.

• Repeat for the insert face after gluing to ensure perfect alignment.

• ✅ Result: Shafts and inserts are perfectly square for broadhead seating.

2. Checking Arrow Straightness

• Place the shaft on the roller bearings.

• Position the dial indicator over the arrow.

• Rotate the shaft slowly, noting any runout.

• ✅ Result: Confirms which shafts are the straightest for precision builds.

3. Indexing Broadheads

• Install and tighten broadheads using the built-in wrench.

• Align blades consistently across all arrows (“cloning”).

• Indexing = matching broadhead orientation to vanes or to each other.

• ✅ Result: Every arrow in your set behaves identically.

4. Tuning Broadheads

• Place the arrow in the tuner with dial indicator directly over the insert.

• Spin the shaft while measuring tip alignment.

• If runout exceeds .002”, gently use the tensioning wheel to adjust.

• This process slightly shifts tolerances in the ferrule/insert interface, creating a perfect spin.

• ✅ Result: Broadhead tip is aligned with shaft centerline, eliminating wobble.

5. Mechanical & Fixed Blades

• Fixed blades benefit most from tuning (eliminates “planing” effect).

• Mechanicals generally fly straighter, but tuning ensures absolute precision.

• ✅ Result: Field point groups and broadhead groups match more closely.

Pro Tips

• Always square shafts before installing inserts.

• Use a Sharpie to mark inserts before squaring—this shows how much material is removed.

• Keep arrows over the bearing contact points when rolling to avoid false readings.

• Re-check broadhead alignment after shooting into targets.
